World chess champion at the City Hall

Mayor Zoran Janković welcomed the world chess champion in the category under 18 years Laura Unuk upon her return from the World Youth Chess Championship in Montevideo.

Laura Unuk is an international master and at the age of just 17 years the best Slovenian chess player. In 2014 she was the World Youth Chess Champion in the category under 16. In 2016 she won the 3rd place at the European Youth Chess Championship under 18. She holds two national championship titles. She is a European individual and team rapid and blitz chess champion.

Laura is a representative of a modern generation of talented chess players who is, in addition to being an excellent student at the High School of Bežigrad, achieving high professional sports results.
